SHERYL UNDERWOOD ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ZETA PHI BETA SORORITY INC

Comedian Sheryl Underwood is elected as Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc 23rd International President.

"Celebrated entertainer and businesswoman Sheryl P. Underwood was elected the 23rd International President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated during the organization’s bi-annual business meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada June 27 – July 3, 2008. Ms. Underwood is the first professional entertainer to hold the highest elected office of a historical black pan-hellenic council organization. Underwood, best known for her sold out performances as a stand up comedienne, is now a regular on-air personality with the Tom Joyner Morning Show. Underwood first joined the Sorority in 1990 and has served the organization as its National Chair of Honorary Members, Graduate Member at Large and just completed two consecutive terms as the National Executive Board Chair.

'I am honored that my beloved sisterhood elected me as their 23rd International President', said a jubilant Sheryl Underwood".

Amber Efé: A Rising Star

Amber Efé is proving to be a force to be reckoned with. Her stellar performances on Broadway and Off Broadway is creating alot of buzz for this multi-talented star. Her credits include Legally Blonde, The Seven, Dreamgirls, Damn Yankees, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Diss Diss Diss Dat. She has been a certified fitness professional since she was 17 years old. Her unique fitness classes have been featured on CNN, NBC, Reader's Digest and Self magazine. Amber Efe graduated summa cum laude from Howard University and is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Victoria Rowell appeared on Tavis Smiley's show on PBS on November 7, 2008. She talked about the election, her book, her adoption foundation and past personal experiences concerning her own adoption.

Victoria Rowell is best known for her role as "Drucella" on the popular day-time favorite, The Young and the Restless.

Victoria Rowell is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Tavis Smiley is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

Michelle Obama accepts AKA invitation

The lovely Michelle Obama has been invited to join the historic Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She's accepted the invitation but has yet to be inducted as of Nov 15, 2008. I personally emailed Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc to confirm the news. It's true, the 1st African-American First Lady will become a member of the 1st African-American Sorority. UPDATE: FLOTUS Michelle Obama has not yet been inducted into Alpha Kappa Alpha. The date is yet to be determined.

Wanda Sykes reveals she's gay and speaks out against Prop 8




According to the Associated Press, comedian and actress, Wanda Sykes, has spoken out against Proposition 8 that banned gay-marriage in California. Wanda Sykes revealed her marriage to her female lover. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Sykes told a crowd at a gay rights rally, "You know, I don't really talk about my sexual orientation. I didn't feel like I had to. I was just living my life, not necessarily in the closet, but I was living my life".
